Apex Legends ‘Fight or Fright’ Launches on October 15, 2019

Apex Legends Fight or Fright Halloween costumes.
Our favorite Apex Legends are all ready to kick some serious ass this Halloween.

It’s that time of the year again, where kids dress as their favorite creepy ghouls or famous characters and knock on stranger’s doors for candy. This year, Apex Legends is dropping some Halloween-themed cosmetics, a night version of our favorite map, and the all-new new Shadowfall game mode. Welcome to Fight or Fright.

The Apex Legends Fight or Fright limited-time event launches October 15, 2019 through November 5, 2019.

What’s included with Fight or Fright?

Based on all of the reports I’ve seen, as well as the above trailer, it’s safe to say that we’ll be getting some cool Halloween costumes for our favorite characters. Here’s a list of all of the characters costumes so far:

  • Bloodhound is a pumpkin-headed scarecrow
  • Crypto is a vampire
  • Mirage is a cowboy
  • Bangalore is a sugar skull skeleton—let me know in the comments if there’s a better name
  • Watson seems to be Dr. Frankenstein
  • Gibralter is either a zombie or Frankenstein’s monster
  • Caustic is a clown
  • Lifeline is a goth girl
  • Octane is some sort of, I don’t know, a piranha?
  • Wraith is a witch
  • Pathfinder is unknown at this time—we’ll update this once the new event launches

So, suffice it to say, I think the costumes look pretty dope. Some seem a bit cooler than others, especially Caustic’s evil, menacing clown costume. Even though I rarely ever use Caustic, I’m definitely excited about unlocking his costume the most. Keep in mind that all of the cosmetics are available only from October 15, 2019 to November 5, 2019.

New Shadowfall game mode

The new limited-time event also brings a zombie mode, Shadow Fall to the also limited night time version of King’s Canyon. The map is dark and spooky looking with candles, various Halloween garb, and green plasma-fire-toxic-spewing Leviathans.

Shadowfall will be the new zombie battle royale. In this new mode, 35 solo players will descend upon the dark King’s Canyon like normal, except when you die, you’ll be transferred to the ‘Shadow Squad‘. Once on the Shadow Squad, you’ll lose the ability to attack with the usual assortment of weapons but will have increased movement speed, the ability to scale walls, and heavily increased melee damage.

Once the game is down to the last 10 players, the remaining players will need to put bad blood aside in order to escape the island via an evacuation ship. This mode seems like a nice change of pace, and I’m glad to see that the devs are trying to keep the game fresh.

What else is included in Apex Legends Fight or Fright?

The Fight or Fright limited-time event will also include:

  • Two new Legendary weapon skins
  • Lifeline Hierloom Set
  • Double XP for Top 5 & Wins for the first weekend
  • Event Apex Packs with no currency, only loot!

The weapon skins look awesome, including a scarecrow skin for the Alternator and a red/gold skull skin for the Devotion.

Get ready to fly on a zipline into a scary-ish version of King’s Canyon October 15, 2019.
