PC gamers, get ready: Your chance to play the Bleeding Edge alpha is coming sooner than you think. The Ninja Theory game is ready to have its code played through and busted up on October 25, 2019. The 25th of this month is turning out to be quite the game for gaming with Call of Duty Modern Warfare and The Outer Worlds being released at the same time.

The Bleeding Edge of What?

I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on this yet, but from what I’ve seen online, it’s a third-person, 4-vs-4 multiplayer melee combat game. Try saying that ten times fast! Ninja Theory, who created Heavenly Sword, Enslaved, DmC Devil May Cry, and Hellblade, is finally stepping into the sweaty world of team-based competitive play.

The gameplay looks ridiculously fast-paced. If you know anything about me, I absolutely hate competitive third-person games, but these one is striking my fancy something fierce. The art style and direction seems very similar to Overwatch—they’re not the only ones making this design choice.

Another video uploaded on September 1, 2019 from YouTuber Arekkz Gaming shows some actual in-game footage.

Damn, this literally looks like Overwatch

Watch a bit of those two videos and tell me that they don’t literally look like third-person versions of Overwatch. I even would gar as far as to say some of the elements they outright ripped off, like the little healing icons floating around your character. That being said, I don’t really care. Overwatch is crazy popular for a reason, and honestly, I don’t mind if they steal a bit of its magic. It seems like the enemies are pretty tanky, and the UI is very reminiscent, as well.

Bleeding Edge alpha release date

The alpha for Bleeding Edge is ready to dropping on October 25, 2019.

If you’re one of the 5 people in the world who won’t be playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare or The Outer Worlds that weekend, you should download it. I’ll probably play it ‘just because’, although I can say that it looks fun. We’ll have to wait until the actual release date to verify.
