Upcoming Playstation 4 games you need to buy

Shenmue III QTE punching game.

With all of the talk of the schmancy-fancy Playstation 5 — creatively named PS5 — I must urge you to remember the Playstation 4. This generation, the Playstation 4 has dominated the console wars without much effort. I used to own a PS4 before selling it to a foster home for their kids, but I had some of my most glorious gaming successes there. There was always something about how clean the interface was, how easy it was to bounce in and out of a party. Plus, GTA V had those cool police light effects on the controller.

Woop woop! That’s the sound of the police!

Anyway, without further ado:

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

PS4 Release date: October 25, 2019

This is going to be one of the coolest games coming out on the PS4 in the near future. Why? Because it’s a sweaty third-person shooter with super fun cartoony graphics. This game, while probably littered with microtransactions like most EA games nowadays, is still going to be fun and enjoyable. Early impressions from people “in the know” state that it expands upon what made the Garden Warfare series so popular. And also because zombies, amirite?

I’m the juggernaut!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

PS4 Release date: October 25, 2019

OH BABY OH BABY OH BABY! Are you excited about the new CoD? I’m excited about the new CoD! As a matter of fact, everyone who works at HPG is excited about the all-new, crazy elaborate FPS legend. The gameplay’s been slowed down just a tad, it’s a bit more methodical and a lot more intense. We’ll be providing so much coverage you’re going to need another set of eyes just to read and watch it all. Also, while you’re here, check out our story on the new Call of Duty League’s leaked team names.

I don’t know what gun this is, but I’ll take three of them, please.

The Outer Worlds

PS4 Release date: October 25, 2019

Who’s bright idea was it to release this on the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? My heart, my soul, my time and my wallet! What ever shall I do? If you haven’t already heard, The Outer World is being developed by the same team that brought you Fallout: New Vegas, an absolute fan-favorite in the entire Fallout series. This game sees players in a new world where actions have consequences. Players who loved Fallout, Knights of the Old Republic, or Mass Effect will feel right at home here.

Shenmue III brings back the fan-favorite QTE events.

Shenmue III

PS4 Release Date: November 19, 2019

Ahhh, the wonderfully nostalgic world of Shenmue. Once the single reason to own a Dreamcast, I remember sinking countless months exploring the world. I’d beat the game, then play it again. Beat the game, then play it again. It was absolutely incredible. The second game, aptly named Shenmue II, was originally destined for the Dreamcast, but was finally found later on the first Xbox. The story of Ryo Hazuki’s quest to avenge his father’s death is finally ready to be experienced once again. Can you believe it, after an unbelievable 19 years—well, 18 years, 9 months, and 13 days, but who’s counting?

Where is Ellie going? It looks cold…

The Last of Us Part II

PS4 Release Date: February 21, 2020

I’ve played a lot of games in my time on this big ole’ ball of dirt we call Earth, but there’s only one experience like The Last of Us. And, it’s The Last of Us. HA! See what I did there? You thought, haha, you thought I was going to same something else. ARE YOU LOCO? This is one of the greatest game’s in the existence of mankind, maybe the universe, maybe in all 12 universes? What does Grand Xeno think?

Anyway, I’m insanely excited. This game is going to be releasing to so much hype, but it’s made by Naughty Dog, and I don’t think they’ve ever made a bad game. This game is dark, grim, and full of terrors. You’ll become so emotionally intertwined with the game’s unlikely protagonists Joel and Ellie that you may need to seek therapy after this one. I hear that there are some major plot twists that no one could ever see coming, but shhhhhhhh!

Your current Playstation 4 library works on Playstation 5

As you can see, the line-up for the next few months is solid. In total, there are 26 games releasing in just the next four days alone. This console is still oh-so-relevant. Besides, the PS5 is backwards compatible with the PS4’s massive game library, so empty your wallet and get ready to no-life these games.
